Aleve Side Effects

Aleve, just like any other drug has its own set of side effects and adverse reactions. Aleve side effects may cause a little discomfort which is definitely normal reactions of the body to any drug administered to it. Adverse effects on the other hand should be watched out for at all times. These manifestations may be caused by hypersensitivity to the drug, hypertensive crisis, hypovolemic shock caused by blood loss, and damage to the central nervous system. Bloating, diarrhea, constipation, lightheadedness, drowsiness, tension headache, nausea, and sometimes even vomiting can be observed during long-term Aleve therapy. There are patients who may manifest heartburn, hyperacidity, and dryness of mucous membranes like the conjunctiva and oral area. You may have to take antacids or sodium bicarbonate in order to control the symptoms. Drink a lot of water if you feel dryness in the mouth and throat.

Try not to delay medical consultation and treatment if you start to feel vision changes like blurring, tunnel-like vision and the occurrence of floaters. A buzzing sensation in the ears may indicate fluid shift in the middle ear and after a few days, you may then experience vertigo or constant dizziness. Swelling on the lower legs may also be observed. This may indicate water retention which is a common side effect of most arthritic medications.

Just because you’re taking Aleve for joint pain doesn’t mean that you have to take a break from living a healthy lifestyle and just rest in bed for a while.
