COPD is also known as Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. COPD is more common that one might think. Common symptoms often include; frequent difficult breaths.
What exactly is this disease?
COPD is essentially the blockage of the airway. “It is also one of the most common forms of lung disease having caused an estimated 126,005 deaths in the United States in 2005. Three of the most common subtypes of COPD are emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and serious cases of asthma; often times, the affected individual may have a combination of more than one subtypes.” (WebMD.com)
Cigarette smoking is one of the most common causes of COPD. Other respiratory irritations such as air polution, chemicals in the air or similar can also cause COPD over a long period of time.
Narrowing of the airways can also be interpreted as asthma or bronchitis, but one should consult with a doctor to be certain of their condition.
