Do I Need Rehab?
Rehabilitation from substance abuse is a crucial decision that needs to be thought about and weighed with care. There are many considerations that you need to think about before you seek rehabilitation. If you’re one of those people who have realized that your alcohol or drug consumption ruins you and your relationship with loved ones and the society, then you definitely have to seek rehabilitation to sober you up and make things right for you. Joining Alcoholics Anonymous is not enough. Because there are alcoholics who still hide a bottle of rum or whisky like it’s a monster they keep beneath their bed even if they’ve pledged to stop drinking for good. People who are hooked on drugs wouldn’t have any control on themselves, that’s why if you’re enduring substance abuse, then it is best if you admit yourself to a rehabilitative institution. Here are some of the things that you should consider as factors for signing up for rehab.
First of all, if you’re starting to ruin relationships and you lost your career in the first place because of drug or alcohol abuse, that’s one important factor to think about. If the addiction or withdrawal symptoms interfere with your activities of daily living, then you have no other choice but to sign up for rehab. Talk to your doctor, your family members, your friends, or to a random stranger who has prior knowledge or experience regarding signing up for rehabilitation. And just because it’s rehab doesn’t mean that you’re bearing the scarlet letter or that negative mark on your forehead that says you’re a substance addict. Remember, celebrities are not the only ones who check in to rehab to flush out the substances they abused from their bodies and to detoxify, because you have every right to a better, healthier change of lifestyle after all.
