What is a good blood pressure reading for men?

The first force that creates blood pressure comes from the heart when it contracts to pump blood. The second force is exerted by the arteries, which are the blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart, when the heart rests between beats, as stated by the AHA. These make up the systolic and diastolic blood pressure respectively. Systolic blood pressure between 120 and 139 is considered prehypertension. A number of 140 or higher is considered high blood pressure. Diastolic blood pressures from 80 to 89 are considered prehypertension, and levels of 90 and above are considered high.
