Is it possible to recreate Old Bay Seasoning at home?
When making the seasoning at home, blend together about 2 teaspoons of black pepper, white pepper, cloves, nutmeg, allspice, ginger and paprika. Combine the mixture with about 2 tablespoons of ground bay leaves, ground mustard and celery salt. Finish it with a dash of red pepper, mace and cardamom. Each person's tastes are different, so the blend can include more or less of any seasoning, or even eliminate a spice, if desired.Old Bay Seasoning started as a seasoning for fish and crab dishes more than 70 years ago. While it started out as a seafood seasoning, people now use it for pizza, casseroles, eggs and other non-seafood meals. Source: foodnetwork.com
