What are the benefits to drying corn in bins?
Using bins for drying corn also allows harvesters to monitor and control the heat and humidity inside the bin. This helps prevent the growth of mold and fungus that leads to grain spoilage. As long as harvesters adjust the humidity in the bin to the humidity released by the corn while drying, and the bins have proper ventilation, very little spoilage occurs. Natural air drying in bins also prevents corn from becoming over-dried, as is common with most traditional heating containers. Source: extension.umn.edu
